After decades in Scouting, I finally got a chance to attend a Philmont Scout Ranch trek as an advisor. Here are some highlights of the Philmont trek equipment that worked out for me!
I should have bought a set of 12 mini carabiners like these for the crew to hold the backpack tags.
These MSR “Groundhog” knockoff tent stakes worked great!
I used these Samsonite duffel bags to safely transport our backpacks on the airplane. Held up well!
This backpacking towel was light, absorbing, and worked well!
My Marmot Crane Creek 2P tent worked great! Held up during a 9+ minute hail storm and multiple heavy rains. Also the footprint for it worked as expected.
This dry-bag/day-pack worked well. A bit heavier that a Sea2Summit, but was comfy and durable.
Things I wish I had:
Platypus softbottle – collapses small when not filled, better than the Nalgene!
